VOLKSBANK ARENA HARZ

Cliffs, stunning views, rock formations

The Harz is known for its rough climate and the legends surrounding the Brocken – the magic mountain is a popular destination for mountain bikers on the "Summit Stormer Tour“ (Gipfelstürmertour). But that's far from all. The true magic of Germany's most northerly mountain range can only be experienced with your fingers on the brake levers, your feet on the pedals and your eyes on the trail ahead.

In the Harz National Park you will experience complete stillness and unspoilt wilderness, craggy cliffs and unexpected views. A few kilometres further on you will discover imposing monuments to cultural history, charming Harz villages and curious tunnel entrances which provide clues to a long tradition of mining. You will return from your mountain bike tour in the Harz inspired by new impressions that could hardly be more fascinating – and that's a promise!

The network of signposted mountain bike routes

The Harz offers mountain bikers every kind of route: from light to extreme, from summit tours to downhill, from short and easy to long and strenuous – the right tour for every taste. The network of routes, which is known as the Volksbank Arena Harz, has 62 signposted mountain bike tours – including those with auspicious names such as "High Fever“ ( Höhenfieber) or "Wild Man’s Trail“, but there is also plenty for families and beginners – for example the "Light Water Tour" (Leichte Wassertour) or the “Little Monk's Circuit“ (Kleine Mönchsrunde).

Not only the variety, but also the size of this mountain bike paradise is impressive: it covers an area of more than 40 by 40 kilometres. Coming from all directions, you can start your tour in over 20 villages and towns and explore the Harz by bike

Welcome to the Harz, the "best bike region in Northern Germany"(MountainBIKE magazine) !!
