In May 2005, representatives of six regional banks have signed a ten-year joint sponsorship deal. Based on these funds, the network of signposted mountain bike routes is marketed as Volksbank Arena Harz. Due to the fusion of Volksbank im Harz eG and Volksbank Oberharz eG in summer 2011, only five banks remained. They all deserve much gratitude of the Harz tourism industry as well as the community of mountain bikers being on tour in the Harz Mountains.
