Classified routes

The signposted tour network of the VOLKSBANK ARENA HARZ has a total length of 1,800 km and ascents covering altogether 50,000 metres of altitude. The 62 signposted mountain bike routes have three different degrees of difficulty (following the ADFC - German Cycling Federation - scheme). If the routes deviate from this distance-height ratio, this affects the degree of difficulty. In the Harz, many fairly short routes include steep ascents and are therefore classified in a higher category.

Easy mountain bike route
20 to 40 km or up to 500 hm (altitude metres)

Medium mountain bike route
40 to 60 km or 500 to 900 hm (altitude metres)

Difficult mountain bike route
60 to 90 km or more than 900 hm (altitude metres)
